Is it Friday Yet?

This week seems to be dragging along (it's only Tuesday :-0 !!!). It's done nothing but rain and storm. We had three tornadoes in Virginia yesterday, one only about 20 minutes from here. I hate weather like this and can't wait for the sun to shine again! Saturday we enjoyed the last day of sunshine by taking Braxton to Maymont Park for the very first time. How can you beat a free park with animals, gardens, and an aquarium. It was a very long walk but it felt good to get out. Of course Braxton had a blast. He wasn't too fond of the pig that got a little close to him or the chickens. A little goat licked his hand though, and he was so excited. You would think that the chickens would seem less threatening than a goat but I could be wrong. It was his own special day because he got anything he wanted. He got his first taste of ice cream and pudding. He also got to have his paci all day which was a mistake. Now he wants it all of the time (back to square one on the weaning). After going to the park we went out to eat and Braxton got to ride on one of those rides that they place outside of Wal-Marts and such. He was laughing and having a good 'ol time. Of course it wouldn't be one of my blog posts without some pictures! :)

On a completely different subject, my husband and I are really excited with Braxton's birthday coming up so soon. What really sparked the excitement and made it seem so real was seeing the invitations complete. A very sweet and very talented woman, Anelys, designed them for us. She does excellent work and it was better than I had imagined! Thanks Anelys (http://www.3littleflowers.com/)! I really want to post a picture of the finished product once I get it but I don't want to ruin the suprise for people who might be getting one in the mail. I can't believe how quickly this birthday is sneaking up on us. Better go back to finishing the plans!

We have a new gardener....

....well kind of. Here is Braxton riding the lawn mower with his Papa Steve.

And a couple random pictures

Since I didn't post much about Braxton turning ten months, I wanted to tell a little bit about his favorites these days.

Loves ~ Walking everywhere (unless he has to crawl to find a place to pull himself up)
~ Waffles
~ Dancing (still a favorite)
~ Singing patty cake. He can't clap well so he just flings his hands up and down and will pat them together for "roll it, pat it"
~ Hiding from us. He gets very excited when we find him....he usually gets so excited that he comes from around the corner or door frame and squeals before we can even get there.
~ Playing with books
~ Being outside (he screams when we come in)
~ Watching cars go by. He will literally freeze and watch each and every one until it is out of sight.

Hates ~ Being confined (no excersaucer or being held too long)
~ Me trying to get him to use the sippy cup

A busy week for us

Saturday afternoon we heading off to the chili cook-off in Richmond. It was fun and we got to taste a wide variety of different chilis. Some with very odd names like "swamp gas chili". We also got to hear and see a few bands. We didn't sit down and watch the music much because we were too busy walking around and enjoying ourselves. It ended up getting REALLY hot and we were getting sunburn, so we left a little early.
A great name for a restaurant!

I look rough...but here's us :)

Safetysuit (hope I got that right!)

Part of Puddle Of Mudd

The rest of the week has been pretty relaxed. Braxton had his first "spaghetti" yesterday. I actually cheated and got the Beechnut Table Time meal. He loved it anyway. Oh and I forgot to post that he is now 10 months old (since Friday!). Oh, how the time flies!!!

Looking a little shocked

Braxitbutt's 9 month check up....

was Monday. They always do his check ups when he's over halfway through the month. So he just had his 9 month appointment and he's almost 10 months...it's annoying. He did end up having two shots but it went pretty well. At his 12 month appointment he will be getting a lot, so I've heard. I did talk to the doctor and we are delaying the chicken pox vaccination so that it won't be given with the MMR. Anyway, here are his stats for this month.
Weight: 22.13 pounds 70%

Height: 28 3/4 inches 59%

Head circ. : 18 inches 57%
I can't believe how much he has slowed down on the weight gain. I guess walking and crawling around will do that to ya.

Over the weekend....
We went fishing this weekend while my mom watched Braxton for us. Sadly we didn't catch anything BUT... a fish did break Brian's line (if that counts for anything). Here are a couple of pictures.

This is what the city would like for you to think the James River looks like

This is the sad truth... :)

A few random pictures from this week...
This is where Braxton and the walker had to be placed after a little incident. Ya see, our sidewalk has the slightest hill (barely noticable). Seems that if you put a walker on the sidewalk that itty bitty hill makes it fly like it's never flown before. After running after it and looking like an idiot I caught him....right before he got to the gate. Lesson learned!

I jinxed myself yesterday. On more than one occasion I said that Braxton wouldn't touch the grass or go off of his blanket (without getting right back on). Well, today he got brave. This picture was only the beginning. He ended up crawling almost all the way to our fence lol. As much as I complained I think I liked it better when he wouldn't move!

The rain has ended!!!

It feels like it has been raining here for the longest time. The only day that it hasn't rained in atleast a week and a half was the day we got our roof done. Today was beautiful and Braxton and I enjoyed a day full of quality time.

A Trip to the backyard!

He loves our "swing" and tries to rock and move it

He was not liking the way the grass felt on his knees and was making his way back onto the blanket lol

Baby food Adventure

Even though Braxton eats mostly finger foods I wanted to try something different. I found this recipe on http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ and thought I'd give it a shot. It turned out really well but I had to change a few small things. For one Braxton doesn't eat cheese and secondly I only had rice on hand.

1. Boil or steam or zucchini and yellow squash until tender 2. Prepare pasta such as Pastina or Ditalini according to package directions3. Add squash to the cooked pasta and drizzle with a bit of olive oil, sprinkle with grated cheese and/or basil and garlic powder**Toss in some finely diced roasted red peppers for extra co lour and flavor temptation!**

Cuddling!
Braxton has really started showing his affectionate/sweet side. I absolutely love it because for the longest time he hasn't wanted to be held. He let me lay in the bed with him and we talked and he rubbed my face with some random kisses every now and then. It completely washed away all stresses and made me feel even closer to him (I didn't think that was even possible!)

Then we were pooped!

Our Home

When coming to look at our house prior to moving in it was quite clear that it needed some work. Now this is just a smaller "cute" house...nothing fancy. My husband did some renovating on the interior as well as the exterior. It might not be big but I LOVE living here. The yard is big and fenced in, the neighbors are nice, and we don't need more than three bedrooms at the moment. It's nice and cozy for us right now. Definitely better than the one bedroom apartment we lived in before! Here are pictures of our home before moving in and then post roof and other work.

Shhh......PLEASE!!!

Okay, I know it's not entirely their fault but does it really require SO much noise to tear a roof off??? I mean it sounds like someone is going to come flying into my living room via a hole in the ceiling at any second. Oh and don't get me started with the baby trying to take his naps! His first nap was perfection, suprisingly, but after that it has been a fight. I love the idea of having a new beautiful roof but HATE the process. I wish I could've made plans to go somewhere else today. The one thing that I am thankful for is that it has stopped raining. I HATE rainy days. It makes me feel lazy and I get nothing done. I've been cleaning like crazy today just to keep my mind off of the banging (which I think is starting to produce a headache!!). Anyway, that is my day today. Hopefully I will have pictures of the before and after of the roof up soon!
